What is my purpose?

What is my purpose?  That is such a good question.  When you think about “What is my purpose?” you think about so many things that you could do with your life.  Everyone is here for a reason.  People should find out what that reason is and live it.
One of my purposes is to be a son.  I have wonderful parents that do absolutely everything for me.  My purpose is to please and obey them every day.  I couldn’t imagine my life without them in my life.  I wouldn’t be anywhere without them.  My parents play such a big part in my everyday life and are super important to me.  They have always taught me to work hard in everything I do and to never give up.  I am also a brother.  I have to always be there for my siblings and always do the right thing.  I have to be willing to help them whenever they need it, even if it isn’t the funnest thing.
After high school my purpose is to go to college and get a good education.  Without an education, you can’t really get very far in life.  You need a good education for whatever career you decide to pursue.  Without an education, you can’t really do anything in today’s economy.   I feel that living up seeing my dad working and hearing all of the stories he has, it only feels right to become a State Trooper like him.  I have always been interested I law, ever since I was little.  I think part of that reason is because of my father.  His job just sounds so interesting.  I couldn’t really imagine me doing anything else.  All I can think about is when I do ride along with him.  Or how I help him tear apart cars to see if there are drugs hidden in places like the gas tank, or dash board, or even in the spare tire.  Not many people can say that they have been “searching” for drugs since they were twelve.  His career is so interesting.  I’m so thankful that he is a State Trooper.  Otherwise, I probably would have not thought of a career path like that.
Hopefully in the future, my purpose is to get married to someone amazing and have children.  When I think about this topic, all I can think about is “I hope they are healthy.”  I want to make sure that I am a good husband and father.  Every kid should have that in their life.  They shouldn’t have to worry about their parents splitting up or fighting all the time.  A kid should be able to enjoy his life and grow up saying, “I had a wonderful childhood.”  I also think about how I want my children to grow up and become successful in life.
Another thing I think about is my faith.  I kind of already said this, but everyone is put here for a reason and they have a certain duty to fulfill throughout their lifetime.  Everyone’s reason is different and you might not find out your purpose right away, but that is ok.  A lot of people tell me that being a Catholic is stupid.  People always say that Catholics are bad and nobody should believe that.  I actually love being Catholic.  It just “fit” me.  It’s also good because Troy is Catholic so we can hang out.
The Goltz family has always been so successful.  My dad being a State Trooper and starting his own business.  He gets to travel all across the country and parts of the world to teach other people that are in law enforcement, the secret service, the DEA, and others.  Not many people can say that they get to do that.  Next you have my uncle Doug Goltz.  He is one of the most successful people I know.  He is the Principal at Falls City Sacred Heart.  He is also the basketball, football, and track coach.  He has taken their basketball team to State Basketball for the last 15 years and they have done very well.  On Tuesday night, he got his 500th basketball win.  That is so crazy.  Not many coaches can say that they have gotten 500 wins in their years of coaching, let alone in one sport.  There have only been 14 coaches in the history of Nebraska that have gotten 500 wins.  It is so amazing to have an uncle that can do that.  Fulfilling the Goltz Legacy and keeping it strong is one of the most important things I feel that I can do in my life.

Where Am I

Where am I at?  That is such a good question.  When I think about this question, I think about this great community of Aurora.  I think of all the great people that live here, and how fortunate we are to be here.  The people of Aurora are so nice and would do anything for someone in the community.  I couldn’t imagine growing up as a kid in a big city like Los Angeles or even Omaha.  Aurora is the perfect size for a kid to grow up in.  It has such a great community and school system.  Aurora High School is the perfect school for any student.  Kids don’t have to worry about students bringing guns or drugs in the school, because we just don’t have those kinds of kids in our community.  I love growing up in such a great community.

Next, I think about the great state of Nebraska.  I’ve lived in Nebraska my whole life, and I couldn’t imagine me growing up somewhere else.  You always hear people talk bad about Nebraska.  People always complain how the winters are too cold and the summers are hot.  I think the weather in Nebraska is good because you never know what the weather is going to be like, it is always a surprise.  You can’t live in Nebraska and not like the Huskers.  Going to that stadium and seeing the “Sea of Red” is one of the coolest things ever.  It’s crazy to think that the Nebraska Cornhuskers have the most consecutive sell-outs in college football.  Nebraska could go 12 seasons without playing a football game and we would still have the most consecutive sell-outs.  I think that’s just insane.  That shows that the Husker fans are dedicated and love football.  The Huskers are finally decent this year and we have a chance to go to the Rose Bowl for the first time since 1941, once again I think that is amazing.  Nebraska and I share a Birthday, on March 1st.  How many people can say that they share their birthday with the great state that they live in, not many.   I couldn’t imagine growing up anywhere else.  Nebraska has such great people and it’s just an all-around good atmosphere.  I love living in this beautiful state.

I think about how lucky we are to live in this great country known as America.  In the U.S. every individual is respected.  You can say what you want and do what you want without being judged.  You have so many opportunities as a citizen living in America, than you do if you were in a different country.  You can do almost anything you want to because every individual has rights.  Our technology helps with so many of these great opportunities that we have as an individual.  We have made so many advances in technology that you can use some type of technology for almost anything.  Our technology is becoming so advanced that hopefully soon we can cure things like cancer.  I think at the rate our economy is going, we will be able to do that in the near future.  I hope that we cure cancer in the near future.  No one deserves to live like that.

Writing this blog, I am sitting in Honors Comp II.  I am thinking where this class will get me in life.  I realize now that this class is so important in every students life.  It helps you learn so many valuable things that every high school student should know in their life.  I keep thinking about how I need to get prepared for college, because graduation isn’t far away.  High school is very important for you in helping you get ready for college and get you ready for the rest of your life.  Part of me is like “Yes! I’m ready to get out of aurora and live on my own” and another part of me is like “I’m kind of scared to go to college and live on my own, because it only means I’m getting closer to becoming a real adult.”  Senior year, seems like it is the most important thing and I feel like I am making the most important decisions of my life with like colleges.

Right now, I am a senior at Aurora High School.   I have my priorities set for what I think I need to do, but they could be wrong.  I hope that I am headed on the right path toward the future.

Who Am I?

My name is Zach Goltz.  I am a seventeen year old, high school senior from Aurora, Nebraska.  I was born in Hastings, Nebraska on March 1st, 1995. Not many people know this, but when I was two I had a tumor in my right cheek.  A growth started to develop and nobody could tell what it was.  It kept expanding in my cheek and started moving towards my eye and nose.  My parents thought that it was a tumor and that it needed to be checked out.  We went to a surgeon in Lincoln, to see how bad it was, and they said that it would be extremely hard for a two year old to get through it, but it could be done.  We immediately went into surgery.  The doctors had to cut through my gum and shred the tumor from the inside.  During this process they destroyed my sinus, so I never get extremely sick and my sinuses never get blocked up.  After 5 hours of surgery, the doctors got rid of the tumor.  They had to sew up my gum, so now it is basically all scar tissue.  My first pre-molar is completely fake because it never fully developed.  I’ve never really told anyone about that, but there is a first time for everything.  When I was twelve, I also had skin cancer on my back in two different places.  I guess I just am extremely lucky.
I am the middle child in my family.  I have a 21 year old sister, Alex and a 15 year old brother, Nathan.  My sister is a senior at UNL and my brother is a sophomore at Aurora High School.  My family has always been there for me in good times and bad, no matter what the situation is.  My family and I are extremely close and we would never let anything happen to each other.  My family started by living in Grand Island, Nebraska until I was three and then I moved to Aurora.  I have pretty much spent my entire life here and I don’t think that I would have been able to grow up in a large town.  It just wouldn’t have fit right.
When I was eight I had another tragic accident.  I was in my living room whidling a stick with a brand new pocket knife stolen from my dad.  I was whidling away, when suddenly I missed (the stick).  I cut my ring and middle finger and went straight through my left index finger.  I went through the bone and all of the tendons.  My finger was hanging by a tiny piece of skin.  I honestly didn’t feel any pain, because I was in shock.  I gripped my hand tight and walked into the bathroom where my mom was doing her makeup.  I remember clear as day I said, “Mom, promise me you won’t be mad but we have a problem.”  I let go of my finger and instantly the sink was full of blood.  My mom screamed and wrapped my hand in a towel.  We rushed to the Emergency Room and instantly the doctor was in my room.  The doctor wrapped it and put pressure so he could stop the bleeding.  During this my mom called my dad!  All I could think was “He is going to kill me.”  He got to the hospital and he was very upset at me.  The doctor got the bleeding to stop, so now it was time for the numb shot.  He literally took off my finger and put the needle into the bone to injection the substance to numb my finger.  It was the WORST pain I have EVER experienced, I cried like a little girl.  The doctor put my finger back on and sewed it back on.  I had to wear a plastic splint that looked like a prosthetic finger.  I don’t know how, but it is now fully functional.
My parents have always been awesome.  When I was eleven, my parents came home from Lincoln with an old bread truck.  We literally created an Ice Cream truck.  It was every kid’s dream to chase the Ice Cream truck and get ice cream, and I could now get ice cream whenever I wanted to.  I was the happiest kid ever.  After a couple of years, it got to be too much work with having kids in high school  and being involved in so many different things.  Last year, we had to sell it.  I was so depressed, because ever since we started it, I was determined to drive it to prom.  That never happened due to selling it.
I am a very lucky person and I have an amazing life.  I am passionate about so many things, and I enjoy a number of different things.  Ever since I was little, I always played sports.  I have played football, basketball, baseball, optimist soccer; I’ve even played lacrosse in Colorado.  Sports just let you show your talents.  I love to play the drums.  I’ve been playing the drums since I was in 5th grade.  I love the drums; I can honestly express so much.  I really enjoy playing in the band and playing the drums during volleyball and basketball games.  I just love to be active period.  It helps you stay in shape and you are NEVER bored.
I feel that I am a very unique person in more ways than one.  Nobody is exactly like me and I love that.  Sometimes I know that I can be crazy, but that’s just me.  I was put on this world for a purpose, and I’m going to try to fulfill it.  You need people like me in this world.  If you don’t have them than the world would be extremely boring.

Life Sound Track
This song really describes my life and who I am.  I think that it perfectly describes my life
and how I am suppose to live it.
